I met Lanford Wilson in 2002 working as the Artistic Intern at Signature Theatre. He asked me if there was a particular role within his body of work that resonated with me. When I said Leslie Bright, he said, ‘You’re a bit young for that…’ to which I replied, ‘Correct, but when I turn forty I’m going to play this role.’ And this is the result.
